Nanowrimo 2K7

I’ve been doing Nanowrimo in one way or another since 2001, and even in those years when I bailed early (2003, 2004), or was stricken by the annual flu pandemic as it swept thru the high school where I was teaching (2001, 2002), or when I was too busy generally freakin’ out (2006), I always try to nail something down. 2005 was my only win (51k), with 2001 right behind (39k).

I’ll be using my Powerbook, a 12" G4 1.5ghz, and Ulysses, an excellent writer’s word processor for the Mac I’ve been using for about two years now. Tracking all the millions (and I do mean millions) of details is done in a twofold manner involving a small squared Moleskine and VoodooPad Lite.

This year it’s going to be a side arc of sorts to the ongoing work that’s preoccupied me since 2001 and which I’m now working on in earnest, the mysterious FM. They say one of the rules of Nanowrimo is no expanding on previous work, but I’ll be generating the frame within which all the other frames/stories will coexist. All new, just involving some characters I’ve already met. My rules, my way. It’s all about getting words on the page, no? To Prague, then, during the heat wave of 1994, and the deep forests of Omaha, the most enlightened city in the world…
